Why put a short link in a QR code?
A QR code stores the address character by character. A 118-character address with UTM parameters needs a 45 × 45 module pattern; the same page behind a 25-character short link fits in 25 × 25. Fewer modules means a code that scans from further away, prints smaller and copes better with smudges and damage.
